WORKSHOP TOPICS
Friday- Afro-Brazilian Samba Workshop & Meet & Greet
Saturday-Pops, Locks, and Layers and Drum Solo Choreography
Sunday- Zils and Drills, Slow & Sultry Moves, and Arabic Pop
FRIDAY
AFRO-BRAZILIAN / SAMBA: 7:30pm - 9:30pm
Brazilian Samba is one of Sadie and Kaya's most requested classes and workshops. This workshop will break down some of the most popular moves and foot patterns in the Samba noPe`, the soloist dance seen at Rio's Carnaval and in many night clubs in Brazil, as well many of the traditional Afro-Brazilian movements and add them together in exciting choreography or short combinations. Get ready to have a great time, burn some serious calories and add some spice to your dance vocabulary.
Meet & Greet Friday Night after "Samba" September 11, 2009 9:30pm - 11pm
(Open dance-bring your hip scarves!!)
SATURDAY
POPS, LOCKS and LAYERS 10am - 12 noon
This workshop follows the teaching format developed exclusively by Sadie & Kaya. You will be introduced to several concepts that will unleash your true potential to execute sharper, cleaner, stronger movements and isolations. Available only through the “Tandem Training Method” that IS SADIE & KAYA!
LUNCH 12- 1pm
DRUM SOLO CHOREOGRAPHY - 1- 3pm
Experience the full potential of a Drum Solo. Kaya and Sadie do not skip a beat. Learn how to apply the "Drum Solo Secrets" in one of Kaya and Sadie's stellar Drum Solo choreographies.
*SATURDAY Night HAFLA - Dress Style "After Five" Special Occasion!
Doors Open 6:30p.m. and Dinner 7pm

SUNDAY
DRILLS and ZILS 10am – 11am
A must for training at any level! This workshop fully breaks down the focused dance and zil technique before drilling. Fancy foot patterns and layering will be introduced, along with many fun and interesting zil rhythms and patterns.
BRUNCH 11am-12noon
SLOW & SULTRY MOVES 12noon – 2pm
Kaya & Sadie first explain the characteristics of a Taksim and Cifte Telli and the dancer's role in a Taksim performance. You will learn seamless transitions, varying your temp, and using the breath of the movement for subtle effect. Kaya & Sadie show you how to turn movements into dancing. You will learn poses and extensions that add drama and emotion to your performance with the fluidity and grace that are the key to a beautiful Taksim dance.
ARABIC POP 2pm – 3pm
Who doesn't love the fun and lively Arabic Pop song? This workshop will highlight many of the traditional Egyptian moves and add some zest and variety to give you a fresh and exciting pop choreography.

Next weekend, we are "Moving Into" the Holiday Inn at College Park for the most extraordinary weekend!!! - Friday Evening will kick off the 30th Anniversary Hafla "Family Reunion" Celebration Weekend with Sadie & Kaya. We start with the exciting Samba Workshop 7pm til 9pm. After that, it's the continued "Meet & Greet" with open dancing, mingling and mixing, celebrating this glorious weekend together. This is going to be a weekend to remember! Bring your family to the Saturday night Hafla Dinner and Surprisingly Luxurious, Multidimensional Performance Show. This is the major highlight of the weekend...10 hours total of workshops starting on Friday evening, Saturday morning and afternoon and Sunday morning and afternoon. WHEW! Cleo's Closet, Magical Fashions and Fantastic Designs are going to be vending their magical dance costumes and paraphernalia. Sadie & Kaya will be selling their highly coveted Performance and Instructional DVDs at their exclusive table! Sign up for their Mailing List!
